Turntable

Turntable was the subject of the thesis project for graduation from the Specializing Master in Furniture Design from POLI.design, Politecnico di Milano.

Designed for Swedish manufacturer Blå Station, Turntable takes into account the manufacturer's proclivity for the products that break from the current established typologies.

Stemming from a study of surfaces, and inspired by the combo desks of yore, this chair in full aluminum construction exhibits a backrest which pivots to become a worksurface, and optional armrests which extend the worksurface offering additional workspace.

Turntable is designed primarily for contract spaces; offices, coworking spaces, and higher education. With high quality, durable materials it's meant to stand up to the trials of public use. In these settings the chair allows for fewer fixed workspaces, giving users the ability to sit alongside their peers for impromptu meetings or lunches.
As a secondary market, Turntable can be used in the home, offering a usable workspace without a permanent desk, and allowing one to work where they please, whether it's in a reading nook, in front of the TV, even outside.
